Pledge to do your bit, and help turn Southampton into one of the greenest cities yet!
You know about recycling, you've heard all about energy saving light
bulbs, now make a pledge to take that step towards being a little bit
greener by just changing one thing! It's easy, it's free and it
feels great!

The 6th Environmental Rock event took place on Saturday 26th April 2008. We
had another enjoyable and very successful day with plenty of sunshine,
and over 600 guests joining us to talk to stall holders, gain some free
goodies, take part in the activities and listen to a great selection of local
bands. We were pleased to welcome the Mayor of Southampton too. If you were
one of those 600 we've got a facebook page
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=13280010676
so please
add your photos, and share your comments on the day with us. Alternatively,
please feel free to email us at: environmental-rock@hotmail.co.uk

During the day there were plenty of activities to take part in from
making your own bird feeder, to tasting organic and fair-trade wines and
chocolate,
and even decorating your own canvas shopping bag. Samhaim Morris
were on excellent form again this year with plenty of dancing and singing to
brighten
up the day even more.
'Green' drinks (organic and
fairtrade) were available behind the bar, and gained guests a ticket into our
prize draw if they bought one. Prizes included
items kindly donated from
stallholders and other companies (see our website page for details). James
Gray was the lucky winner of our mountain bike (see left!)
Only one prize was
unclaimed on the day - if you are Denis Selby, congratulations, you've won a
prize, but you didn't leave any contact
details. Please email us to let us
know how to get your prize to you!! |

This year guests were asked to add
their environmental pledges to the board which will become a permanent
fixture at the Hobbit. Pledges included: not leaving the computer on when not
in use, to always wash clothes at 30 degrees C, to try and fix items that are
broken and one brave guest even pledged to
attend Southampton's Naked Bike
Ride in June!

environmental rock possible. They hold stalls, give away
information and freebies, run activities or donate green prizes.
